Your Apps can’t detect HIV...
Many men have reported being asked stigmatising questions on social contact websites and Apps such as ‘are you clean?’ (and indeed some people actually expect a response to such a question). The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested. Testing is free in Ireland at a range of clinics and locations.
It's crystal clear...
The use of alcohol and recreational drugs, and engaging in ChemSex, can affect our choices and our judgement and can perhaps make us more likely to take risks during sex. Get informed, be aware of your limits and stick to what is safe for you and your partner(s).
Sex can last a long time...
PEP can help prevent HIV infection if accessed within 72 hours (3 days) of exposure to HIV, such as through unprotected sex or if a condom tears or slips off. PEP is free in Ireland. Get informed about PEP and where to get it - the earlier the treatment starts the better.
For many people on long term HIV treatment, with an undetectable viral load, the risk of transmitting the virus to a partner(s) is negligible. Yet stigma persists with many men rejected sexually because they disclose their HIV status. Reduce the stigma - discover more about the viral load and HIV transmission.
Condoms: some men have sex without them!
Used correctly and consistently, condoms can prevent transmission of HIV and most STIs. Whatever type of sex you choose, get tested regularly for HIV (if you don’t know your status) and for STIs. Find your nearest free testing clinic on this handy locator map.
