Information for Refugees/Asylum Seekers

If you are a refugee or asylum seeker and think you might have contracted HIV, you can get a free HIV test, as well as other STI (sexually transmitted infection) tests, free of charge in Ireland through public health services. The process of applying for a test and/or the outcome of a positive HIV test result will not affect your legal status in Ireland – it will not affect the outcome of any application for asylum, refugee status, or Humanitarian Leave to Remain. If your test results are positive for HIV or any other STI, the treatment(s) you receive will also be free of charge. Your test results will be strictly confidential – nobody except you and your testing clinic will have access to your results.  If you would like to take a free test, you can find your nearest HIV and STI testing clinic here.
